My first research at Gemba

Tema tentang Keselamatan kerja akan menjadi pilihan judul menyelesaikan tugas dari Gatot Sensei. Tugas Mid-Test mata kuliah Research Methods mengenai Experimental Research.

Experimental Research adalah research yang melibatkan perbuatan, action, dan menganalisa, mengobservasi konsekuensi dari action tersebut. Subyek research biasanya kelompok, lalu melakukan semacam pelatihan/percobaan,menerapkan suatu metode baru dll, setelah itu mengobservasi efek/dampaknya. Jadi Experimental Research lebih berfokus pada menentukan penyebab suatu hasil.



The Influence Of Training GANRIKI To The Safety Awareness Of Employees At PT. Honda Precission Parts Manufacturing



1. Introduction

In the company there are “5M” resource that is Man, Material, Machines, Money, and Method. Fifth this needs to be handled properly in order to support the company in achieving its goals. Man or employees should be treated as a resource to be managed and developed because, even so a company has a modern equipment with high technology but the human is the driving force, without human company will not in finction. The development company relies heavily on labor productivity in the enterprise.

Safety and physical health and mental labor is the main thing. For that companies need to be conducting a training program to improve the health and safety. Safety is a safety-related work with machines, working tools, materials and processing process, the basis of the workplace and environment and ways to do the job. Consideration of the company in this case to minimize or eliminate workplace accidents. And another consideration is the health issues that arise in hazardous working environments such as the risk of chemicals and new technology.

Keselamatan kerja:

Suatu bentuk usaha yang dilakukan perusahaan untuk mencegah Atau mengurangi kecelakaan kerja dan meningkatkan  kesehatan Pekerja melalui pengendalian peralatan kerja , tata letak tempat kerja ,tata letak bangunan dan pabrik ,tenaga kerja

Especially in manufacturing where very high levels of workplace accidents, the company is obliged to increase awareness and safety precautions. At PT. Honda Precision Parts Manufacturing, the three Divisions of the highest accident rate is the Production Division. While the Division of Business Operations and Quality Division, there are no accidents. Accidents Data In Production Division during the period 2 to period 7.
There were 48 cases of work accidents:


One of the training that was held to raise the level of awareness and vigilance to the the safety of these workers is by training ‘Ganriki‘. Ganriki taken from the Japanese language which means (miru chikara de kiateru) insight; power of observation which when translated means the ability to see the potential of the danger around us.

2. Research Questions and Objectives

2.1 Research Questions

Based on the above discussion, the formulation of this research are to know and analyze the influence of training GANRIKI to the Safety Awareness of employees at PT. Honda Precission Manufacturing.

2.2 Objectives

In accordance with the description on the background and the formulation of the problems mentioned above, the purpose of this research is to determine what impact of the training GANRIKI to the Safety Awareness of employees who received training and are not.


3. Theoretical Framework

1. Hypothesis

H1 : Training affect the Safety Awareness of employees at PT. HPPM positively and  significant.

H2 : Employee awareness affect the Safety Awareness of employees at at PT. HPPM positively and significant.


Variables :

1.      Independent Variable (X1) = Training

2.      Independent Variable (X2) =  Self Performance

3.      Dependent Variable (Y) = Safety Awareness











4. Research Design

4.1 Methods

The methods of this research is using One-group Pretest-Posttest Design

O1  X O2

O1 = Pretest score (before  having training)

O2 = Posttest score (after  having training)

4.2 Measures

Measures used in this research is to use a Likert scale. This scale is used to measure attitudes, opinions and          perceptions of a person or group of people about social phenomena. In a Likert scale, which measured variables are adjusted as subvariabel. Then the sub variables are translated into measurable components. Components that can be  measured is then used as a starting point to develop instrument items that can be either question is answered by respondents.

Answer each item instrument rated as follows:

a. If the answer to “A” were given scores of 5 Strongly Agree
b. If the answer to “B” Agreed given a score of 4
c. If the answer to “C” Sub Agreed given a score of 3
d. If the answer is “D” was given a score of 2 Disagree
e. If the answer to “E” Strongly Disagree was given a score of 1

5. Sampling Design

5.1 Population :

In this research the population are employees of Production Division PT. Honda Precision Parts Manufacturing in  Karawang. The population of the training program as many as 1000 people.

5.2 Sample

In statistics, a simple random sample is a subset of individuals (a sample) chosen from a larger set (a   population). Each individual is chosen randomly and entirely by chance, such that each individual has the same probability of being chosen at any stage during the sampling process, and each subset of k individuals has the same probability of being chosen for the sample as any other subset of k individuals. Data The data samples collected by taking a random sample or called simple random sampling. Number of employees who are selected based on total employee population of 1000 people used so that the amount generated by table 8.4 pages 242 W. Lawrence Neuman (sample size of a random sample for different population with a 99 percent Confidence Level) is 543 people.

6. Procedures

6.1 Place and Research Time

(1)   Research Place

The research will be conducted in Production Division PT Honda Precision Parts Manufacturing Karawang.

(2)    Research Time

Time studies conducted in the discussion of training programs Ganriki ‘awareness of safety work for 3 weeks of work from January 1, 2010.

6.2 Data Collection Procedures

Questionnaires will be distributed to the Shift Leader to be submitted to the operator (employee of PT. HPPM Production Division.) and then collected and processing data. For the X variable data acquired through questionnaires. Researcher distributed to the respondents and given a score of 1 to 5 for each answer. A collection of scores that will be used as data for statistical testing. For the Y variable data acquired through questionnaires about the author safety awareness. This questionnaire contains 15 items of questions where each question has 5 answers can be selected by the respondents that every answer has a value range of values from 5 to 1 for each of their answers were distributed to 543 respondents. Through this questionnaire will obtain primary data. This is intended to further evaluate the company’s activities, especially activities in the plant that is a place that potentially the work accident.
Through this questionnaire is expected to also note the level of alertness worker safety data.

7. Data Analysis

Data analysis in this reseach using

  • Pretest
  • Validity and Realibility
  • Technique / tools used to analayze data :t-test
